4 Day Wild Mustang Workshop Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival and Introduction (Eve of the Workshop)
The guests may check into their cabin as their schedule allows.
We will have a welcome dinner and orientation.
Introduction to the Pryor Mountains, workshop itinerary, and safety guidelines, and general meet and greet.
Equipment check and preparation for the early morning shoot.

Day 2
Day 2: Exploring the Pryor Mountains
7:00 AM – Sunrise Breakfast at the Cabin
Start your day with a gourmet breakfast at the cabin, where the majestic views of the mountains set the tone for an unforgettable adventure. Enjoy fresh, locally sourced dishes as we prepare for the thrilling photography experiences ahead.
8:00 AM – Scenic Drive to the Mustang Herds
After breakfast, we embark on a private, scenic drive to the heart of the Pryor Mountains. Keep your cameras ready for spontaneous wildlife sightings as we make our way to where the wild mustangs roam free. The breathtaking landscapes will serve as the perfect backdrop for capturing the untamed spirit of Montana.
9:00 AM – Immersive Morning Photography Session
As the sun rises, we’ll set off on foot to find the wild mustangs at their most dynamic. The morning light highlights the mustangs in their natural habitat, allowing you to photograph them in all their glory—whether grazing, running, or interacting with one another. This is your opportunity to capture these extraordinary creatures in their purest form.
12:00 PM – Scenic Picnic Lunch
Recharge with a picnic-style lunch at one of Montana's hidden gems. Surrounded by rugged terrain and stunning vistas, we’ll discuss photography techniques, swap stories, and review the morning’s best shots while the landscape unfolds before us.
1:00 PM – Exploration and Wild Photography Adventures
In the afternoon, we’ll explore Montana’s diverse wildlife and remote wilderness areas. Capture the beauty of pristine rivers, lush meadows, and iconic wildlife. Along the way, we may encounter elk, bison, or perhaps a black bear—a true testament to the wildness of this land.
3:00 PM – Midday Image Review and Editing Masterclass
Retreat to the cabin for a relaxed yet insightful session. We’ll review your images, offering tailored feedback to refine your skills. Learn advanced editing techniques that will take your photos to the next level and prepare you for the evening’s shoot.
4:00 PM – Gourmet Dinner at the Cabin
Return to the cabin for a five-star, farm-to-table dinner, expertly crafted to satisfy and refresh after a day of adventure. Relax in the comfort of the cabin, exchange ideas with fellow photographers, and savor the peacefulness of the Montana wilderness.
5:30 PM – Evening Golden Hour Photography Session
As golden light bathes the landscape, we head back to the wild mustangs for a sunset photography session. The late-afternoon light provides a magical atmosphere for capturing the mustangs’ raw beauty against the stunning backdrop of the Montana mountains. This extended session allows you to experiment with creative techniques and truly immerse yourself in the moment.
9:00 PM – Return to the Cabin
Return to the cabin where you can unwind and enjoy some well-deserved free time. For those looking to expand their skills further, join us for an optional night photography session under the starlit sky, capturing the raw beauty of the landscape after dark.
Day 3
Day 3: The Pryor Valley Herd
7:00 AM – Late Breakfast at the Cabin
Indulge in a relaxed, late breakfast at the cabin, featuring Montana-inspired dishes with a modern twist. Fuel up for another day of incredible photographic opportunities and high-caliber adventure.
9:00 AM – Scenic Drive to the Pryor Mountains
After breakfast, we’ll take a scenic drive through the rugged terrain of the Pryor Mountains. The road to our destination offers unparalleled views of the mountains and valleys, providing the perfect opportunity for capturing panoramic shots of the surrounding wilderness.
10:00 AM – Morning Photography Session with the Alpine Mustang Herd
At first light, we’ll set out to photograph the wild Alpine herd of mustangs in their natural environment. Their striking presence against the wild landscape will provide endless inspiration for your images. This session is designed to capture dynamic, action-filled shots that showcase the mustangs’ strength, beauty, and spirit.
12:00 PM – Scenic Picnic Lunch
Take a well-deserved break at a scenic spot in the mountains, surrounded by nature’s splendor. Enjoy a delicious packed lunch while we review your morning’s shots and discuss tips for perfecting your photography technique.
1:00 PM – Explore the Hidden Gems of the Pryor Mountains
The afternoon is all about exploration. We’ll head deeper into the Pryor Mountains to uncover its secrets—Black Bear sightings, the famous Ice Cave, and unique vistas that will make for extraordinary photographs. The landscapes are dramatic, ranging from rugged cliffs to lush, hidden valleys.
3:00 PM – Midday Review & Post-Processing Session
Return to the cabin for a midday review of your images, along with a post-processing workshop. Learn how to fine-tune your photos, enhance their natural beauty, and develop your unique style through expert guidance on editing techniques.
4:00 PM – Dinner at the Cabin
Return to the comfort of the cabin for a luxurious dinner prepared with the freshest local ingredients. Take this time to relax, reflect on the day’s adventure, and bond with fellow photographers over a shared love for wildlife and nature.
5:30 PM – Sunset Photography Session with Wild Mustangs
As the sun sets behind the mountains, we head back to the wild mustangs for an evening shoot. The golden-hour light creates a magical atmosphere, giving you the chance to experiment with new angles, compositions, and creative techniques as you capture the mustangs in the perfect light.
9:00 PM – Return to the Cabin
After a rewarding day, return to the cabin where you can unwind or participate in an optional night photography session under the stars. Montana’s expansive night skies offer an unparalleled opportunity for astrophotography, allowing you to capture the vastness of the wilderness in stunning detail.
Day 4:
Day 4: Valley or Mountain Herd
(An early morning photography session is optional depending on the interests and needs of the group.)
7:00 AM – Gourmet Breakfast at the Cabin
Start your final day with an indulgent breakfast at the cabin, featuring locally sourced ingredients and expertly prepared dishes. Take your time to relax and savor the quiet beauty of Montana before our final adventure.
9:00 AM – Optional Return to the Valley or Mountain Mustang Herd
For those who want to capture the mustangs one last time, we’ll return to either the Valley or Mountain Mustang herd, depending on past sightings and group preference. This is your chance to apply everything you’ve learned to capture stunning final shots of these iconic animals in the wild.
11:30 AM – Scenic Picnic Lunch in the Wild
Enjoy lunch in one of the area’s most scenic spots, surrounded by towering cliffs, wild rivers, and endless skies. We’ll review the morning’s photography and provide final tips on how to elevate your images to their full potential.
12:30 PM – Wild Montana Exploration
In the afternoon, we’ll head deeper into the Montana wilderness to explore remote areas that offer incredible photo opportunities. From sweeping plains to hidden creeks, you’ll have the chance to photograph diverse wildlife, dramatic landscapes, and the unique flora that make Montana so wild and beautiful.
3:00 PM – Final Image Review & Creative Preparation
Return to the cabin for a final review of your work, where we’ll refine your editing techniques and prepare for the evening’s shoot. This session ensures that you’re ready to capture your most dynamic, creative shots yet.
4:00 PM – Gourmet Dinner at the Cabin
Enjoy a final gourmet dinner at the cabin. This will be a time to relax, share your experiences, and bond with fellow photographers over the incredible images you’ve captured. It’s also the perfect opportunity to get advice for your future photography adventures.
5:30 PM – Final Sunset Photography Session
Head out for the final photography session with the wild mustangs, capturing them as the sun sets over the rugged Montana landscape. The fading light, coupled with the beauty of the mustangs, will give you the chance to create some of your most stunning images of the workshop.
9:00 PM – Return to the Cabin
Return to the cabin for a final farewell dinner and image review. Reflect on the past few days, share your favorite shots, and celebrate the skills you’ve developed. The night is yours to relax, plan your next adventure, or participate in an optional milky way photography session.
**IMPORTANT NOTE**
Workshop Attendees have the opportunity to extend their stay at the ranch for an additional 125$ USD a night. You will have full access to the same amenities, cabin, and you are free to return to all the same photography locations and subjects we visited during the workshop!
